SUB: Upgrading a Single XenServer Host
This article is to explain, how to upgrade the XenServer 6.0.2 to 6.2. I was trying to upgrade my server and i thought to share the few screenshots for a quick reference.
You have an option to upgrade the XenServer from the XenCenter console.
Identify the currently running XenServer Version
Open the XenCenter console and go to upgrade option
Click on the ADD button to browse the update files. The update files comes with the installation media or can download from the Citrix Website.
Select the update files one by one which ever is applicable.
Select the respective XenServer Name to upgrade.
The Prechecks failed because the XenCenter update method can not be used for the upgrade of XenServer 6.0 to 6.2 since there is a major change in the version.
Now we have to follow the General upgrade process for the XenServer and the update needs to be performed on each XenServer Host.
There is another upgrade method available termed XenCenter Rolling Pool Upgrade which we will discuss in another blog.
Before upgrading a standalone XenServer host, you will be required to either shut down or suspend any VMs running on that host.
Steps:
1. Select the respective XenServer Host.
2. Disable HA.
3. Execute the below commands.
4. Insert the XenServer 6.2 setup disk into the Host server.
Connectify dispatch pro torrent. 5. Make sure that the server boot option is set to boot from the Disk drive.
6. When the host is powered on, it will be booting from the disk media and you need to follow the below steps to upgrade. Not all the screenshots included as you would be an administrator and i do not want to upload the screenshot of the minor screens.
7. After the upgrade completion, the server will be booted on the new version.
